7000-300 Provincial Games Structure7000-300 Provincial Games: Provincial Games Structure Review Date: February 2021 Effective Date: February 2021 Special Olympics Ontario Provincial Games Structure shall consist of Spring, Summer and Winter Games taking place on a four year cycle. Spring Games: These games shall take place every four years (2020, 2024…) in May or June with the following sports being contested: Aquatics Basketball 10 Pin Bowling Powerlifting Rhythmic Gymnastics Summer Games: These games shall take place every four years (2021, 2025…) in July or August with the following sports being contested: Athletics Bocce Soccer Softball Golf Winter Games: These games shall take place every four years (2019 2023…) in January or February with the following sports being contested: Alpine Skiing Figure Skating Nordic Skiing Snowshoeing Speed Skating Curling Provincial Floor Hockey and 5-Pin Bowling Championship: This championship shall take place every four years in April or May in the same year as the Winter Games (2019, 2023…).

7000-303 Team Quota Allocation for Provincial Games7000-303 Provincial Games: Team Quota Allocation Review Date: February 2021 Effective Date: February 2021 Team Quotas shall be allocated according to the Policy Detail outlined below: Calculation for Games Quota The calculation is determined by the total number of teams participating in each sport, at the Provincial Qualifiers.

7000-304 Athlete Identification Criteria Individual7000-304: Athlete Identification Criteria for Advancement to Provincial Games (Individual Sports) Review Date: February 2021 Effective Date: June 2021 To ensure fair and equitable identification of athletes to Provincial Games, the criteria outlined in the policy details below will be used to determine which athletes will advance from Provincial Qualifiers.

7000-305 Athlete Eligibility for Provincial Games7000-305 Athlete Eligibility for Provincial Games Review Date: February 2021 Effective Date: February 2021 In order to be eligible to advance to a Provincial Games each athlete must meet the following criteria: Provincial Games Athlete Eligibility Requirements: Athlete Registration Each athlete must submit a completed Special Olympics Ontario athlete registration form Age The athlete must be 10 years of age or older as of the first day of Provincial Games Sport Club Registration Each athlete must be registered with a Special Olympics Ontario sport/athletic club in the specific sport he/she is competing in Provincial Qualifier The athlete must participate in a Provincial Qualifier.

7000-306 Team Identification7000-306 Provincial Games: Team Selection Criteria for Advancement to Provincial Games Review Date: February 2021 Effective Date: June 2021 The following criteria shall determine how Special Olympics teams (Basketball, Bocce, Curling, Floor Hockey, Soccer, and Softball) advance to a Provincial Level of Special Olympics competition.

7000-311 Discretionary Quota7000-311 Discretionary Quotas for Provincial Games (Individual Sports) Review Date: February 2021 Effective Date: June 2021 Discretionary Quota may be used for, but not limited to, the following (in order) Errors (final results at the provincial qualifiers, calculation of overall ranking, appeals) Ensure quality representation by gender, age, ability, event, geography, etc When possible, up to a maximum of five percent of additional quota will be added for each individual sport to be used as Discretionary quota.

7000-312 Athlete Eligibility Appeal Process7000-312 Athlete Eligibility Appeal Process Review Date: February 2021 Effective Date: January 2022 Any individual, athlete or advocate, with just cause, who believes that an athlete is unfairly affected by the implementation of Policy 7000-305 Athlete Eligibility for Participation in Provincial Games’ or Policy 7000-307 “Team Eligibility for Participation in Provincial Games” may refute this decision by following the appeal process outlined in the PAN CANADIAN APPEAL POLICY

7000-314: Reserve Performance Quotas for Provincial Games (Team Sport)7000-314: Reserve Performance Quotas for Provincial Games (Team Sport) Review Date: February 2021 Effective Date: February 2021 When assigning quota for team sports for Provincial Games, two (2) team quotas will be held in reserve as Performance quota. The following procedure outlines how the Reserve Performance quota will be assigned.

7000-313 Athlete Assistant7000-313 Provincial Games: Athlete Assistant Review Date: February 2021 Effective Date: February 2021 Preamble It is understood that some athletes normally travel with or require the service of an Athlete Assistant to assist them in the completion of essential daily life activities.

7000-302 Athlete Quotas for Provincial Games7000-302 Provincial Games: Athlete Quotas for Provincial Games Review Date: February 2019 Effective Date: February 23, 2018 Quotas for Provincial Games will be based upon the number of athletes/teams that participated in the Provincial Qualifier in the year preceding the Provincial Games and will be proportionally divided amongst all sport conferences based on participation numbers at the Provincial Qualifier.
