7000-312 Athlete Eligibility Appeal Process

Any individual, athlete or advocate, with just cause, who believes that an athlete is unfairly affected by the implementation of Policy XX `Athlete Eligibility for Participation in Provincial Games’ or XX “Team Eligibility for Participation in Provincial Games” may refute this decision by following the appeal process outlined in the policy details below.

  1. If an individual wishes to appeal the eligibility of an athlete he/she must submit a written appeal to the Competition Developer.
  1. The appeal must contain the following information:
  2. Name of ineligible athlete and his/her sport/athletic club.
  3. Name of person(s) submitting the appeal
  4. Reasons for the appeal.
  5. Supporting pertinent documentation.
  1. The Competition Developer shall review the appeal and if the supporting documentation clearly indicates the appeal is warranted, shall grant the appeal.
  1. If the appeal is more complex the Competition Developer shall consult with the Manager of Program Services and a plan of action will be established. This may include a conference call to the involved parties.
  1. Each appeal will be assessed on an individual basis.
  1. Following the appeal process a memo will be sent out to all applicable parties either stating that the athlete is added to the eligibility list or that he/she will not be added to the eligibility list.
