Minimum Requirements for Hosting a Competition
Invitational Competitions
- Includes any ability level as designated by competition host
- Pre- Divisioning / Seeding is not required. Individual sports can be divisioned with final results. Team sports can use self divisioning.
- Sport rules may be adapted slightly, however rules regarding safety of athletes and coaches cannot be altered. As well, sport rules cannot be altered to provide an unfair advantage to an athlete or team. When sport rules are altered, specific variations must be outlined in the tournament format.
- It is recommended to have certified sport officials on site
- Registration fees not to exceed $25 per athlete, or $40 per golfer, fees should be set based on cost recovery (ie: facility fees should be covered by registration monies if possible)
- Competition / tournament format and rules must be communicated to coaches prior to competition
- Official results from the competition should be submitted to the SOO Competition Developer
Conference Competitions/Provincial Qualifier Competitions
- Must include all ability levels and will include all events (where applicable).
- Divisioning / Seeding must occur to ensure all athletes/teams are competing within their correct ability level
- Sport rules must adhere to the SOC Sport Rules (SOO Rule Supplements) unless previously approved by SOO
- At least one certified sport officials must be on site
- Registration fees not to exceed $25 per athlete, or $40 per golfer, fees should be set based on cost recovery (ie: facility fees should be covered by registration monies if possible)
- Official results (including all games sheets) and final team rosters must be submitted to the Competition Developer at SOO within two weeks of competition
- Competition / tournament format and rules must be communicated to coaches prior to competition
Eligibility of Participants
All athletes and coaches who participate in any competition MUST HAVE a current SOO registration number. Due to insurance implications, athletes or coaches who do not have a current SOO number are NOT eligible to participate in any competition.
Athletes must be actively training with a SOO registered sports club to be eligible to participate in an SOO sanctioned competition.
