IN KIND DONATIONS

Many communities receive Gift In Kind Donations. This can be anything from a DJ donating his services at the year end banquet to a grocery store donating all of the water for your local soccer tournament.

Special Olympics Ontario can issue Tax Receipts for Gift in Kind Donations as long as the community Treasurer provides the Financial Department with the information that is needed.

To issue a Tax Receipt for a gift in kind donation received from a Business: just provide SOO a list with company name, address and description of item given. Value of the products is optional.

From Service providers such as Disc Jockey, Doctors, Lawyers, etc. who provide their service for free. A Cheque exchange has to be made- the community should pay for services rendered and then the individual can write a cheque for the same amount back to SOO-(community) as a donation.

If an individual provides the organization with an in kind donation SOO will need proof of value of the item donated such as receipts, flyer ads, etc. if the donation is beyond $1000 a 3rd party assessment will be required.
