7000-214 Policy Review, Creation and Adoption Process

Policy Review
All SOO official policies will be open for review at the beginning of each calendar year. The review period will be one month long and will allow all stakeholders to provide feedback and suggestions regarding current policies.
To submit comments, concerns or proposed revisions members will be asked to fill in the SOO Policy Review Feedback Form during the review period.
At the close of the review period all Feedback Forms will be assessed by the Sport and Competition Team to determine the validity of the comments, concerns and proposed revisions.
Revised draft policies will be written as needed based on the feedback process.
All revised draft policies will be submitted by the Sport and Competition Team to the CEO of Special Olympics Ontario for review.
Once the policy has been approved by the CEO, it will be updated across all platforms.
Policy Creation and Adoption
When it is necessary to create a new policy the Sport and Competition Team will draft the proposed policy.
The proposed policy will be made available to the membership on the Resource Library prior to the beginning of the calendar year.
The membership will then have one month to review the proposed policy and submit any comments, concerns or proposed revisions utilizing the Policy Review Feedback Form.
At the close of the review period all Feedback Forms will be assessed by the Sport and Competition Team to determine the validity of the comments, concerns and proposed revisions.

Special Circumstances
It is a governing principle of Special Olympics Ontario to endeavour to align our sport policies and rules to those of Special Olympics Canada’s when it is appropriate.
When SOC releases updated policies or sport rules that we have aligned to Special Olympics Ontario will immediately adopt the updated policy(s) and or rule(s).
The new policy(s) and or rule(s) will be updated across all platforms.
