Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers fill a number of roles at the community, district, conference, provincial and even national level:
- The Coaching Roles and Responsibilities section of this resource contains all of the coach position descriptions
- All Community Council and Administrative volunteer position descriptions are contained in the Volunteer Opportunities section of the resource library
Volunteers can expect to further their experiences with Special Olympics. There are various opportunities available for volunteers, including volunteering at higher level Games. Volunteers may fill the role of District Team Manager (DTM) for Provincial Games, which includes accompanying the District Team to Provincial Games, or act as Provincial Team Liaison (PTL) for athletes and coaches in their region as they prepare for National Games. Volunteers are also recruited by Special Olympics Canada for various Mission Staff roles at World Games.
There are also occasionally opportunities for volunteers to fill specialized positions at both the Provincial and National Level. Both Chapters look to our volunteers to fill Sport Specific Technical roles as well as sit on temporary committees. Often these positions are skill specific and as such applications are sent to volunteers that meet the criteria that is being sought out. If you are interested in pursuing this line of volunteering please contact your District Developer.
