Kayaking 

 Special Olympics Kayaking is a flatwater racing event where athletes compete either on their own or as a pair with another athlete. Kayaking is one of the newest Special Olympics sports. It requires fundamental abilities in order to be safe and successful

Sport Status

Kayaking is a partner program in Special Olympics Ontario. Competitions and clubs are run through the Provincial and National Canoe/Kayak Sports Organization: Canoe Kayak Canada. All Canoe Kayak Canada competitions comply with SOI rules for both Unified and Traditional Divisions.

Sport Season

The kayaking competition season runs from June to September. Some Canoe Clubs offer training opportunities year round.

Athlete to Coach Ratios

The ratio is a minimum of athlete to coach requirement for all sanctioned Special Olympics Ontario competitions and practices. They ensure that athletes are safe and supervised at all times.
