Invitational Competitions
Many various-sized invitational competitions happen throughout the year in a variety of sports. Invitationals vary from a couple of communities participating, to international in scope. Hosts are expected to apply the same standards of competition as with Conference competitions. Please see the Hosting a Competition section of this resource for more information.
- Hosted anywhere in province
- Hosted by a registered coach / volunteer of SOO
- Can be one sport or several sports hosted at once
- Can consist of two teams / clubs or several clubs
- Competition host will send general invites out. Invites can be extended outside their districts
- Competition guidelines can vary depending on facility, time allotment, ability level of competitors, etc.
- Formal divisioning / seeding may or may not be used
- Sport rules may be adapted slightly, however rules regarding safety of athletes and coaches cannot be altered. As well, sport rules cannot be altered to provide an unfair advantage to an athlete or team. When sport rules are altered, specific variations must be outlined in the tournament format. Sport rule changes must be approved by SOO
- Registration fees not to exceed $25 per athlete, or $40 per golfer
- May or may not include meals, ceremonies, etc.
