7000-302 Provincial Games: Athlete Quotas for Provincial Games

Quotas for Provincial Games will be based upon the number of athletes/teams that participated in the Provincial Qualifier in the year preceding the Provincial Games and will be proportionally divided amongst all sport conferences based on participation numbers at the Provincial Qualifier. Please note that athletes registered in the adapt divisions are not eligible for advancement to Provincial Games and therefore will not be included in the calculations for quota. Quotas for participation in a Provincial Games shall be determined by implementing the steps outlined in the policy details below.
1. Provincial Games Sport Quotas
Provincial Games sport quotas are calculated based upon the number of athletes registered in each specific sport as compared to the number of athletes registered in the other sports held at the same Games. Provincial Games Venue Capabilities will also be reflected in the quota.
2. Sport Conference Athlete Eligibility Quota
Number of Athletes Participating in the Provincial Qualifiers in each conference (not including Adapt athletes). SOO will receive the final results of all provincial qualifiers and determine the number of eligible athletes that competed at each Provincial Qualifier.
3. Percentage of Conference Athletes
The number of athletes competing within the conference will be calculated to determine the percentage of overall athletes within the province.
4. Athlete Quotas
Apply the Percentage of Athletes within each Conference for a specific sport to the Provincial Games Sport Quota to determine the number of athletes able to advance to the Provincial Games from each Provincial Qualifier.
This number is then rounded up or down to a whole number.
4. Base Quotas
If the quotas from a specific Provincial Qualifier are unable to be filled by athletes from that competition the quotas will be reallocated to another Provincial Qualifier for the same sport. The additional quotas will be distributed proportionally to the Provincial Qualifiers held in the same sport.

Quota = Percentage multiplied by the Total Quota Available (220)
(.0507 x 220) = 11.15
# of Athletes = Previous number rounded up/down to make a whole number
11.15 = 11 athletes
