2024 Community Excellence Award – Dan Robar (Sarnia) 

Dan Robar has been with Special Olympics since 1998, consistently active in a wide range of sports including powerlifting, athletics, soccer, swimming, curling, basketball and most recently 5-pin Bowling. This year he competed in powerlifting at the Special Olympics Ontario Provincial Spring Games in Kitchener-Waterloo. 

In addition to working at a Foodland Grocery store for almost 20 years, Dan volunteers one day a week at the St. Vincent de Paul Foodbank. He’s a graduate of Lambton College Co-operative Education (CICE) specializing in Horticulture. Dan also keeps fit in the Iron Eagles gym program and is active with Community Living programs. 

Special Olympics Sarnia recently recognized Dan with an Inspire Award in recognition of his ability to excel at team spirit, going above and beyond with athletes and volunteers, and striving to improve himself in all his sports.
