The Bishop Tonnos Titans floor hockey team is made up of athletes who had never been on a sports team before their involvement with Special Olympics, nor had they been away from home overnight. They committed themselves fully to the opportunity to represent their school at the Provincial Championships in Kingston and Chatham. The team members embraced the experience, wringing every ounce of fun out of it as they battled for a medal, and travelled as a cohesive group.
The Titans exhibit extraordinary sportsmanship and constantly demonstrate how they care about each other. They represent their school proudly and always conduct themselves appropriately. Each teammate supports each other, listens to their coaches, and makes every effort to win. Even when they don’t win, they are happy for the positive experience of competing and know they gave it their best shot, exemplifying the Special Olympics oath.
