Ewen Barclay has been involved with Special Olympics for the past six years, starting her journey in 2018. She’s a multisport athlete, participating in athletics, basketball, curling, soccer and speed skating. In 2024, Ewen competed in speed skating at the Special Olympics National Winter Games in Calgary and was a member of the West Niagara Grizzlies basketball team at the Provincial Spring Games in Kitchener-Waterloo. She’s active in her community, supporting various fundraising events.
Ewen is an all-round athlete demonstrating many aspects of what success is both on and off the ice. She trained throughout the year for the National and Provincial Games, setting Personal Best (PB) records in three of the four distances during competitions. At the National Games, she set three PBs in her heats, went on to break two of them, and then set three new PBs in her Finals. Her performance at Nationals earned her four Gold medals.
