Shawn Horsley: Bradford’s Bowling Beacon!

Shawn Horsley, a Special Olympics athlete from Bradford, has been competing in sports such as 5-pin bowling and bocce for over 30 years. Speaking on his behalf, Shawn’s mother Angie said Special Olympics “gives Shawn an outlet to be with others like himself and learn skills.”

Shawn is non-verbal, but that doesn’t stop him from enjoying being with people at events. He also looks forward to having snacks and other treats at competitions. “Getting medals was a special experience,” Angie said, adding “it’s nice to connect with other families to learn about further opportunities.”

With more than three decades of involvement, Shawn and his mother are incredibly appreciative of and hope more people can learn about Special Olympics. “This is such a worthwhile organization; the athletes are so happy and it’s important to know that this is going on.”
