New Volunteer Check List 

Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with us! We truly appreciate your willingness to contribute your time and energy to support our programs. To help you prepare for the application process, the checklist below outlines all the information you’ll need to provide during the registration process. Having these details ready in advance will make your application quick and easy to complete.

  1. Please visit the Getting Started page in our Resource Library to review important requierments for volunteers as well as helpful resources
  2. Legal First & Last Name – as it appears on Passport or Police Check
  3. Valid Email Address
  4. Date of Birth
  5. Mailing Address
  6. Contact information (e-mail and phone number) for two references, references cannot be related to you. Community/Club officials can be a reference only if they know you well outside of the context of the club. Your application will not be processed without this information
  7. Information for two Emergency Contacts
  8. Current *Police Check (completed within the last 6 months)- must include a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening. Please Upload a copy of the check to this profile OR mail the original copy to:

    Applicants cannot volunteer until a Police Check has been submitted and their application has been approved.
    *Please note that Jr volunteers must be 14 years of age and are not required to submit a Police Record Check until they turn 18. 

  9. If you do not have a current Police Check with VSS that you can submit you will need to obtain one before you can begin to volunteer with SOO.
    1. To obtain a Police Records Check with VSS please visit your local Police Station (some forces have an online application process that can be used)
    2. We have a standard form that can be used at some police stations to confirm that you are applying to volunteer with SOO. Click Here to download the form.
  10. Complete the free NCCP Safe Sport Course offered online by the Coaching Association of Canada  at  safesport.coach.ca
