Ryan MacBean is a Special Olympics Athlete from Dufferin, Ontario. Ryan has been involved in Special Olympics for ten years now, most of which he spent competing in swimming events. In addition to his swimming training and competitions, Ryan looks forward to the many events that Special Olympics Ontario has to offer. These events include Polar Plunges, motionball, Mud Runs and Truck Ride. Ryans favourite part of the Truck Ride event is getting to ride in the police cars.
Special Olympics means a lot to Ryan, as it gives him the chance to compete in competitions and work hard at swimming, giving it 100%. His most treasured memory occurred when he received a medal presented by his dad at the Provincial Spring Games in Guelph, Ontario.
If Ryan could say something to a donor or supporter of Special Olympics, he would say thank you and express his gratitude for their support. He would tell them that their donations allow athletes like him to train and compete in sports events, and that without Special Olympics, he wouldn’t be as healthy and active as he is today.
Special Olympics Ontario would also like to highlight Ryan’s dedication to the organization through his participation in the Polar Plunge. Ryan was the top fundraising athlete in the 2022 Polar Plunge raising a total of $12,235 for Special Olympics Ontario – way to go Ryan!
