National Volunteer Week is April 15-21

“Volunteers are not paid – not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless.”

In recognition of National Volunteer Week, and as Special Olympics celebrates its 50th Anniversary in 2018, we wish to take this opportunity to recognize and thank our volunteers for giving their time and energy to enriching the lives of over 25,000 athletes who presently train and participate in our programs across the province of Ontario.

There is no kinder act than helping others.  We realize that every volunteer with Special Olympics is a great role model and enhances the spirits and abilities of our athletes.  Every one of our volunteers is special, and we applaud the leadership, effort, and enthusiasm you put into helping the athletes. We are very appreciative of the dedication you bring to your role as a volunteer.

While our athletes are clearly the reason why we exist, our volunteers are how we exist. We are very thankful that you are helping us fulfill our mission of providing outstanding, quality sports training and competition opportunities to children, youth and adults with intellectual disabilities. We often hear volunteers say that the rewards they reap from their experiences with Special Olympics, far outweigh what they are able to give. We hope that you continue to have an excellent experience volunteering with Special Olympics.
