Welcome to the 2024 Spring Games, hosted in the Waterloo Region from May 23-26, 2024. Originally planned for 2020 but postponed due to the pandemic, these Games are a testament to the resilience and determination of our athletes. Join us as we bring together exceptional individuals from across the province, showcasing their talents in 5 sports disciplines. With a strong focus on inclusivity, athletes of all skill levels have an equal opportunity to compete, advance, and excel.
2020 Provincial Spring Games
Athlete Eligibility
The athletes who were identified for the 2020 Spring Games will need to meet the eligibility requirements to be invited to the 2024 games. Here is a list of the eligibility requirements:
- Athletes must be registered in the SOO Membership database by February 1st, 2023
- Athletes must be actively training, in the sport they were identified for the 2020 games, with a SOO Sport Program
- Athletes must be members in good standing within their community and be endorsed by their community council / coach
- Athletes will be competing in the same sport, and the same events they were identified for in 2020, therefore, specific sports will require athletes to submit results from a current competition. Note: timed results do not need to meet the 2020 submissions, however, they do need to meet the minimum time standards for the event (swimming). See further details in the Sport Specific section below.
- IMPORTANT: Covid vaccinations are not required for Provincial Games, but may be required at higher levels of competition.
2020 Provincial Spring Games
Athletes and Coaches/DTM/Sport Tech Invitation to Compete
Below is an outline of the process to confirm your attendance at the 2024 Provincial Spring Games:
ATHLETES:
- Athletes will receive an email with the details for the 2024 Provincial Games. The email will include the link to the declaration form.
- Athletes to submit the Declaration of Interest Form by February 1, 2023.
- Athlete eligibility will be confirmed.
- Community Endorsement for all eligible athletes who have submitted their Declaration of Interest.
- An email will be sent to all athletes informing them of their endorsement status.
- Endorsed athletes will be required to attend any invitational competition ( Hometown Games, Invitational Competition, etc) and compete in the events that they were originally identified for in 2020.
- Athletes will need to submit their competition results by June 1, 2023
- Competition results will be verified and athletes will be sent the invitation to attend the 2024 Provincial Spring Games.
- Parent/Guardian endorsement and Games Registration due August 30, 2023

COACHES/DTM/SPORT TECH:
- Declaration Form will be distributed June 1, 2023
- Coaches/DTM/Sport Tech to submit the Declaration of Interest Form by July 31, 2023.

- Identification for 2024 Spring Games completed September 15, 2023
Requirements for All Positions:
- Must be registered in the SOO Membership Database and must be fully endorsed by their community council
Requirements for Coaches:
- Must be actively coaching in their eligible sport
- Must have attended a competition in their respective sport in the current sport season
- Meet the coaching qualification required for their respective sport (note: Safe Sport is now a mandatory coach certification)

If you were not identified to attend the 2020 Provincial Spring Games, you may still have an opportunity to be identified to attend the 2024 Provincial Spring Games.
2022 would have been the time to begin qualifying for the 2024 games. As we return to sport, we recognize that several clubs are still experiencing challenges in returning to their normal training routine. To accommodate these challenges, we are bypassing the two year eligibility requirement for the 2024 games. 2023 is the qualifying year for the 2024 games. ATHLETES:
- Must meet the eligibility requirements to be identified for the 2024 Provincial Spring Games.
- Be training in the respective sport.
- Attend an identified Provincial Qualifier in their sport. Please discuss with your coach about attending a Provincial Qualifier.
- Review the sport specific identification process below.
- Community Council and Coach endorsement is required.
- Parent/Guardian endorsement and Games Registration due August 30, 2023.
COACHES, DTM and SPORT CONSULTANTS:
- Coaches, DTM and Sport Tech Consultant application process opens June 1, 2023.
- Submit application by July 31, 2023.
- Community Endorsement for all coaches will take place.
- Identification for 2024 Spring Games completed September 15, 2023
