Media Relations Coordinator

Job Title: Media Relations Coordinator 

Tasks and Responsibilities: 

The Media Relations Coordinator will focus on graphic design and communications for social media, websites, newsletters, and articles. The role will highlight major events, fundraising initiatives, and community programs while supporting the strategic goals of Special Olympics Ontario. Key areas of focus include the Provincial Summer Games in Brantford, the School Championships in Ottawa, and Law Enforcement Torch Run events. 

This role will work to support a range of marketing and communication initiatives, assisting with both creative and strategic execution to engage stakeholders and promote events and programs. 

Primary tasks and responsibilities include: 

  • Graphic Design and Content Creation: 
  • Develop visually appealing graphics for social media, web, newsletters, and print. 
  • Create and manage templates for consistent branding across all communication platforms. 
  • Social Media Management: 
  • Develop and maintain social media calendars, creating posts tailored to various platforms. 
  • Monitor engagement and analyze the effectiveness of campaigns. 
  • Website and Newsletter Communications: 
  • Maintain and update the organization’s website with event and program information. 
  • Write, edit, and design newsletters and e-blasts to ensure consistent messaging. 
  • Event and Campaign Support: 
  • Develop marketing materials and promotional content for the Provincial Summer Games, School Championships, and other events. 
  • Coordinate storytelling initiatives, including athlete spotlights and community success stories. 
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: 
  • Work with teams to align content with organizational goals and fundraising strategies. 
  • Support partnerships such as the Law Enforcement Torch Run with tailored marketing materials. 

Projects will be assigned based on interests and strengths through collaboration with programs and stakeholders.
