Job Title: Community Development Consultant
Tasks and Responsibilities:
The Community Development Consultant will work to support a number of programmatic initiatives planned for Special Olympics communities across Ontario. This position will work to support outreach efforts, school and youth development, partnership support, resource development and overall program development and growth in priority communities across the province.
Much of this project work will be around the planning, creation and implementation of programming, competitions and partnership/community development.
Tasks and Responsibilities for this position may include:
•Prepare Professional Development materials and coaching materials for coaches.
•Building of local community programs alongside community implementation partners.
•Development of coaching and community resources, tools, materials
•Provide support to the ongoing development of volunteer and athlete training resources.
•Provide support to existing sport partnerships with generic sport groups and support the ongoing integration of intellectually disabled children into local sport programming.
•Provide direct organizational and coordination support for the development of partnership programs to increase the availability of sports programs for intellectually disabled athletes in the local community.
Projects will be assigned based on interests and strengths and through consultation with host programs and stakeholders. The student will be supported by full time staff within the Community, Sport, Competition, School and Youth Development portfolios of the Program Department.
