Red Division (Level 1 Skills)


Day 1: Lay Ups


  • Standing 3 feet away from the middle of the basketball net, athletes will attempt to shoot the basketball into the net.

  • Athletes will have 5 minutes to make as many shots as they can

Scoring:


  • Each shot that hits the rim will be worth 1 point

  • Each made basket will be worth 2 points

  • The total number of points per athlete will be added up and divided by the number of athletes for each team.

Day 2: Dribbling & Ball Control


  • Athletes will dribble stationary in the same spot for 5 minutes

  • Athletes may use one hand or alternate hands 

  • Athletes will have the option to do crossovers (in a stationary position) while dribbling

Scoring:


  • Athletes will be awarded one point for the number of controlled ball bounces and two points for the number of crossovers

  • The total number of points for each athlete will be added up together and divided by the number of athletes on each team

Day 3: Shooting


  • Athletes will shoot 3 feet away from the net, alternating shooting from the left and right sides

  • Athletes will have 6 minutes each to make as many shots as possible

 

Scoring:


  • Each shot that hits the rim will be worth 1 point

  • Each made basket will be worth 2 points

  • The total number of points for each athlete will be added up together and divided by the number of athletes on each team

Day 4: Passing (LIVE)


  • Standing 8 feet apart from one another, athletes will pass the ball to one another in zig-zag formation (any type of pass is acceptable)

  • Athletes will have 5 minutes to make as many passes as they ca

Scoring:


  • Athletes will be awarded 1 point per successful pass
  • The total number of passes per athlete will be added up and divided by the number of athletes for each team
