{"id":2167,"date":"2019-01-09T16:55:26","date_gmt":"2019-01-09T21:55:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www1.specialolympicsontario.com\/resources\/?p=2167"},"modified":"2021-12-07T14:31:20","modified_gmt":"2021-12-07T19:31:20","slug":"coach-orientation-and-training","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www1.specialolympicsontario.com\/resources\/coach-orientation-and-training\/","title":{"rendered":"Coach Orientation and Training"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family:Arial; font-size:14pt\"><strong><span style=\"color:black; text-decoration:underline\">Coach Orientation and Training<\/span><br \/>\n\t\t\t<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Arial; font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"color:black\">In order to provide Special Olympics athletes with a quality experience in sport, coaches are expected to attain a minimum level of qualification, and are supported in their pursuit of coach training. <\/span><br \/>\n\t\t<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Arial; font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"color:black\"><strong>Training<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n\t\t<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Arial; font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"color:black\">All coaches are required to have completed the Special Olympics Canada National Coaching Certification Program (SOC\/NCCP) Community or Competition Coach Technical course within the first year of their assignment or placement.<\/span><br \/>\n\t\t<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Arial; font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"color:black\">Volunteer training will also include on-the-job training and may utilize a buddy system for support and education.<\/span><br \/>\n\t\t<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Arial; font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"color:black\"><strong>Volunteer Career Path<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n\t\t<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Arial; font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"color:black\">Volunteers are encouraged to develop their skills while with Special Olympics Ontario and are also encouraged to volunteer for other available positions.<\/span><br \/>\n\t\t<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Arial; font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"color:black\"><strong>Continuing Education<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n\t\t<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:black; font-family:Arial; font-size:12pt\">Additional learning and skill development will be made available to volunteers throughout their placement with SOO to allow them to upgrade, enhance, or keep current their position-related skills.
