The Transition Coordinator will focus on &#8220;transitioning&#8221; student-athletes between the ages of 18 and 21 years old that are registered in SOO school programs into the community programs.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu; font-size: 12pt;\">Qualifications<br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Excellent Communication Skills<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">A strong knowledge of the SOO community programs in their area<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Strong leadership, organizational and administrative skills<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Strong written and verbal skills<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">A relationship with the local schools and school board(s) would be an asset<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Access to computer and e-mail required.<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu; font-size: 12pt;\">Job Responsibilities<br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Be a member of the community council and attend community council meetings<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Determine which SOO student-athletes to target in local school boards (this information can\/will be provided by provincial office)<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Establish relationships with local school boards and schools<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Organize parent information nights\/sessions in the schools (participate in existing parent-teacher nights)<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Organize opportunities for student-athletes to attend community events<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Organize opportunities for student-athletes to try community sport programs<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Work with community coaches to determine which clubs would be suitable for new athletes<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Determine where new clubs need to be started based on response from school athlete participation\/need<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Communicate with the Provincial Office on developments, concerns, and issues in relation to transiting graduating athletes into community programs.<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Help in the recruitment of new volunteers, by informing the parents of the graduating athletes about volunteer positions available in the community<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Upon vacating the position all files etc. must be passed on to the new Transition Coordinator.<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Review and be familiar with sections 1,6,7,8,12,17 and 18 of the information portal.<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Maintain Special Olympics e-mail address that is provided to you if applicable.<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Time Requirement<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Approximately 2-5 hours per week is the estimated time commitment<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">This position is consultative in nature. All correspondence can be done from home through the telephone or in writing.
