Durham athlete returning to Nationals this summer in Niagara Falls

Matthew Heldsinger is a multi-sport athlete from the Greater Durham region who has been participating in Special Olympics events for 10 years! Over the years, he has partaken in 5-pin Bowling, Athletics, Basketball, Floor Hockey, and Softball. Matthew says that Special Olympics means a lot to him, because it has given him so much opportunity to participate in various sports, make lifelong friendships and to travel to different places for competitions and tournaments.

Matthew wants to thank donors and sponsors of Special Olympics for their continued support and donations, and shares that it means everything to him and his fellow athletes. His best memory from his time with Special Olympics was winning a bronze medal at Nationals in 2018 for the 200m run, and is absolutely thrilled to now have been chosen to compete at the Canada Summer Games. They will be taking place throughout August in Niagara Falls, and you can find more information at https://niagara2022games.ca/. Good luck Matthew!
